SERVICES HELD FOR AUGUST GADE AT WHITTEMORE

WHITTEMORE - August Gade, 89, died about midnight Wednesday, in St. Ann hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks after breaking his leg in a fall at his home.

Mr. Gade was born March 4, 1867 at Ebstorf, Hanover, Germany, and came to West Bend in 1892 where he farmed until 1943 when he moved to Whittemore where he retired.

He married Mrs. Marie (Voss) Bell April 27, 1894, and she died on Aug 2, 1938. To this union, seven children were born: Ernest, of Emmetsburg; Herman Gade and (Erna) Mrs. Emil Bierstedt of Fenton; Hugo, of Algona; Werner and Edwin, of West Bend; and (Dora) Mrs. Hugo Faulstich, of Whittemore.

Mr. Gade then married Mrs. Mielke in 1943 who died in 1944. Besides the seven children, six step-children also survive: Robert Bell, of Algona; Em. Bell, West Bent; Mrs. Wm. Meyer Sr., Mrs. Mathilda Meyer, Mrs Wm. Roeber and Otto Bell, all of Whittemore. There are 65 grandchildren, 113 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the St. Paul's Lutheran church with the Rev. P. Weinhold officiating, and burial was in the Lutheran cemetery south of town.

Pallbearers were Victor Faulstich, Melvin Roeber, Alfred Bell, Robert Gade, Martin Meyer and George Gade.
