February 21, 1908 DEATH OF AGED WOMAN MRS. CARL BALL PASSES TO BEYOND TUESDAY MORNING _______________________ AFTER MANY MONTH'S ILLNESS Funeral Services Were Held From Late Residence at 2 p.m. Yesterday, Burial in City Cemetery At her home in this city Mrs. Carolina Ball passed away at about 8:15 o'clock Tuesday morning after an illness of several months' duration caused by dropsy. Her age at the time of death was 78 years, 4 months and 20 days. Deceased was born in Nakel, Province of Prussia, Sept. 28, 1829, and in 1851 was united in marriage to Carl Ball. Four years later they came to America, arriving in Guttenberg in 1855. Shortly after their arrival they settled on a farm in this township and on which they continued to reside until nine years ago when they moved into town. Besides her aged husband deceased is survived by seven children, three sons and four daughters, namely; Mrs. Bertha Backes, Keystone, Ia.; Mrs. W.E. Bernau, DeSoto, Ia.; Mrs. A.M. Busacker, Talmage, Neb.; and William, Chas. H. and Mrs. Carolina Hagen, residing on farms in Jefferson township, and Louis H. at home. Funeral services were held from late residence of deceased yesterday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. Janzig at St. John's Lutheran Church, interment taking place in the City cemetery.
